We are looking for one or more interns for summer or fall to work with us in one or more of the following categories:
- Writing (required for all)
- Proofreading
- Graphic Design
- Marketing
This is not a paid position, but a position from which to learn and gain experience in an uplifting and Christ-centered environment. Number of hours per week will be worked out on a case-by-case basis. Interns ought to have completed at least one year of college or equivalent work experience. All interns will work under the supervision of the Editor In Chief, with input from the Assistant Editor. Interns are expected to work remotely, have regular access to a computer and internet, and conduct themselves professionally and in a manner worthy of a follower of Christ. The ideal applicant will also have a drive to learn, a can-do attitude, initiative, strong communication skills, strong time management skills, and the ability to work well under time constraints.
Any intern may be requested to assist with other projects as necessary. If an intern is interested in other aspects of the magazine publishing business, we are willing to consider other inquiries. Questions may be sent to Editors.LogoSophia@gmail.com.
Requirements & Responsibilities
1. Writing
All LSM interns must be able to write with some proficiency, and each will be responsible for writing a bare minimum of one piece (article, story, poem, etc.) for our blog and one piece for each seasonal issue to be released during his or her internship.
2. Proofreading
An intern who wishes to work in proofreading is expected to have a firm grasp of English grammar and punctuation and will be given a number of pieces to proofread each week, to be agreed upon by the intern and the Editor In Chief. Applicants will be required to take a screening test.
3. Graphic Design
As our issues are online, we have the freedom to be quite creative with our seasonal issues. An intern who wishes to work in graphic design must have access to a graphic design program that they are either familiar with or they can learn on their own. He or she will be given a number of articles to design based on the editors’ discretion. Intern may also assist with finding or creating images to accompany blog posts.
4. Marketing
An intern who wishes to work in marketing will be required to have strong communication and people skills (including conversation, listening, empathy, etc.). He or she will be expected to help with various ongoing marketing projects, including social media marketing and in-person marketing.
