By Samantha Terrell (Rated G)
The rubber-band
Of DNA strands
Stretches out,
Life’s tensions grow;
Snapping back, as time itself slows?
A road is travelled,
A meal’s prepared,
The Spirit waits to welcome them there,
Or here,
Or whatever short-distances, or long
Are chosen where he or she, or they, will sing their songs,
And laugh their laughs,
And fight their fights.
On this warm night,
Or tomorrow’s cold one.
Each day,
A new array, within an array,
Within and without;
Choices on a grid
Of time, upon which
The ever-present Constant patiently waits.
The opening stanza followed by “Life’s tensions grow” — simplistic and beautiful. Not only a great opening, but a great image.
