Foul Feelings

Foul Feelings

By Jordan Ellis Christensen

My conscience carries cancerous care.

A horribly heavy load my heart does bear.

My soul sinks into a septic pit—

I founder and fall into a fell fit.

O my soul why dost thou sink?

Why founderest thou and forgettest to think?

O bring to mind the Myst’ry that gave thee breath;

The delightful deluge that delivered thee from death!

In wondrous waters thou wast made well;

In a bath of Christ’s blood thou wast delivered from hell!

Remember O soul and recall the redemption:

How the Saviour suffered and won thee salvation!

No feelings foul shall free thee from His fingers.

Thou art His though the old man lingers.

What do you think?
